FAQ

My school doesn’t have a TFP chapter. Can I join as an individual?

Unfortunately, TFP does not offer individual memberships at this time. But we’d love for you to start a chapter at your campus! You’ll find more details below.

How do I start a TFP chapter at my university?

It’s easy! TFP provides the documents and resources you’ll need to meet the requirements of your school’s administration. All you need is to gather five (5) students who will become your initial members and complete the TFP New Chapter Application form. Please allow three (3) weeks for us to process your request.

We already are an anti-slavery organization at our university. Can we join forces with TFP?

We invite you to merge your organization with The FREE Project. There’s strength in numbers, and you’ll find it’s much more fun to run a club when you have shared resources to support you.

If our campus anti-slavery organization joins TFP, can we keep our name?

Yes. But we hope that you will consider adding “in collaboration with The FREE Project” to your group.

Do you have high-school chapters?

We welcome high school chapters.

Are you a nonprofit?

The FREE Project is a project of Historians Against Slavery, a charitable nonprofit.

Are you a faith-based organization?

The FREE Project is a secular organization and as such offers an alternative to students who prefer to belong to a non faith-based group. We are respectful and supportive of the efforts of the faith-based anti-slavery organizations and recognize the tremendous contributions faith communities have made to the abolitionist movement throughout history.

How can I make a donation?

The FREE Project is a project of Historians Against Slavery (HAS), a charitable nonprofit. Donations can be made to James Stewart, Historians Against Slavery Treasurer, Macalester College, 1600 Grand Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota, 55105

How can I help? Do you have volunteer opportunities?

Yes! The FREE Project is a volunteer-based organization. Please contact us for opportunities to volunteer your time.

Keep in mind there are lots of ways you can help. One of the easiest things you can do to spread awareness is to put up flyers at your school or in your community. You’ll find TFP flyers in our resources section. You can also help by joining The FREE Project on facebook and inviting your friends! And if you’re on twitter, please follow @The_FREEproject and retweet our tweets to your friends. Every time you spread the word you’re helping end modern slavery.
